Self Description Test (SDT) : Psychological Tests(SSB Interview)

Self Description Test is the last test under Psychological Tests conducted during SSB Interview. This is the simplest test of all in Psychological Tests series. In this test you have to write about yourself in paragraphs. This test is designed to extract about you by yourself. By this test they want to know about your strengths and weaknesses.

How to Approach it?

  1. Time for the test will be 10-15 minutes.
  2. Write your strengths and weaknesses as per opinions of the following: - (I) Parents, (II) Teachers, (III) Classmates, (IV) Own opinion about yourself, (V) Qualities you would like to develop in yourself.
  3. Try to write one paragraph each on the above 5 opinions or 1.5 to 2 pages.
  4. Write your strengths and weaknesses as per opinions of your parents, teachers, friends and yourself.
  5. Always end with a paragraph on what Qualities you want to improve/generate in yourself from the opinions provided about yourself by your parents, teachers, friends and yourself also.

Do's and Don'ts during this Test

  • Write paragraphs in order of opinions provided by your parents, teachers classmates and yourself.
  • Do not mention weaknesses which are not acceptable in a Officer.
  • Balance strengths and weaknesses.
  • Always give lesser number of weaknesses than strengths.
  • In strengths you can mention your Qualities like (I) Parents (sincerity, responsible, unique, smart, scientific), (2) Teachers (obedient, intelligent), (3) Classmates (friendly, helping, influencing), (4) Yourself (smart, tactical).
  • Avoid over writings and cuttings.
